Hi,
I have noticed thsi each and everyday, throughout bangalore.
Each evening, the constables on night patrol (probably) stop by most small restaurants, eating joints, wine shops to collect money. It's like a ritual and something amicable for both parties.
The cops visit the shops sometime after 10 30 stand.. they are handed over the money based on the size of business in the shops and they walk off to the next. (Amonut varies from: Rs 40 - 100 I guess)
I am sure this can never be something official... I am sure its just not here its across the country all big and small cities
