Me and my girl friend were just sitting in the car, parked on the correct side of the road, a beat officer came and threatened us to come to the station or go to the court and pay a petty fine. As far I am aware there are no laws in India which we broke by sitting in the car. He further interrogated us asking our bio data and then tried to take her picture but she through her presence of mind kind of avoided it. He took my picture and the car's number plate. Negotiation was still on. In the meanwhile he "called" up his higher officer, which I felt was just a mimicry , I could not hear any voice from the phone, I was barely a feet away from him. Then after a while he succumbed to our requests and was asking to "gift" his higher officer, to which I clearly refused. After more talks he accepted to settle the matter at his level itself and took the bribe from us.
