When I was to go out of India to travel to USA, the petty customs officer while doing my security check asked me for chai paani. I gave him Rs. 50. I saw disappointment in his eyes - was looking for some more money. I should not have given any money - but it is easy to get overblown by the circumstances. It was silly and the officer was no more than a beggar.
