I had lost my mobile phone and to claim insurance i had to show an FIR. When i went their, the beat constable refused to file the report, initially saying that how can i be sure it is a theft and i haven't misplaced it...and later insinuating that i have hidden it just to claim the insurance money. when i was on my way out of the police station in ********** sector 16, a man in civilian clothes approached me took me to the parking lot of the station asked me if i sincerely needed the report. when i replied in affirmative, he went inside the station and came out with a proposition; pay 200 bucks (50 for him, 150 for the constable) wait outside and i will get my report. I was a student then, and had limited finances at my disposal. I haggled and finally settled for 100 bucks. I got the report, but the incident made me lose all my ********** for these uniformed buggers.
