I applied for passport and an sub-inspector from Ghaziabad visited my home for verification. He shown me passport documents that I submitted and asked me to do a verification sign and asked me to show ID documents. After documents verification he told me that there will be a expenditure of Rs 1000. He was very open and direct and told me that this is not for his pocket but for smooth flow of documents and will go from bottom to top. I paid Rs 500 to him, as my cousin told me that Rs 500 is the standard amount Police charge.
After some days a local station(from Indirapuram police) cop in plain/normal clothes visited my house with passport papers and told me that this is second verification and asked me about neighbours but didnt asked any neighbor for verification but asked me to pay Rs 1000, but told me that we are from the same caste so I have to pay Rs 800. I paid Rs 500 to him, and refused to pay more.
