Corrupted Mercantile Marine Department (DG Shipping)
Been knowing a guy namely 'Som" in the mercantile marine department of whom i did hear a lot of stories regarding the bribe he asks for to get the job done faster ( or just get it done), being a seafarer myself and to get my certificate of competency i went to this guy to get the bank challan and the required forms. He and his fellow group members consisting of all the clerical job workers start the looking out process for people with difficulties and as soon as you approach them, they just show you the harsh way of bribe and avail facility. so i went to this guy and suddenly he pops out the latest i-phone and from the second pocket a Samsung note-2, now with this a little surprised as to how did a clerk that too of a govt office manage to buy 2 of these most expensive cellphones in the market, hiss appearance seemed to be very good, in fact wearing better clothes and shoes than mine! (If i assume, the govt doesn't pay so much, at least to the clerks). when i asked him for the form, he just nodded and asked me to come tomorrow, reason being that i'm too late for the job! (the timings are 10:00- 12:00) and i was there at 11:30. i literally was on my knees and begging of him for the form, but this chap asked me to go to the washroom and wait!.
after 2-3 mins, he comes upto me and says "2000 lagega! paise de aur leja" .. SHOCKED!!.. mummbling i told him that i don't have the money, and his answer followed "fir to pure hafte mat dikhna yahan". Being very scared and helpless, i had to offer him the money and took the chalan
Every sailor, going to or if he's been to the noida MMD, knows who som is and also his conduct!
I Don't actually have any idea of complaining in the dgshipping but through your medium would like to highlight this topic of which thousands of seafarers are in stress off! (Anonymous)
