Corruption in The real estate sector and the unholy Builder+Registrar alliance

Reported on October 3, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30468

The registration office has a "standard" practice of 10% of registration amount to be paid as bribe. If you dont then your property wont be registered. Simple!! The justification the guy gave was "saar thumba reasonable, your property's value is much higher I am saving you lakhs of rupees. This is a standard practice" I however was keen to register it to the proper value but the unholy alliance of the Builder+Registrar made me pay the bribe.
Worst part was that the builder charged me service tax and stuff and never gave me a receipt. I asked him for the KST CST number and he didnt give me any. I guess this is also some form of corruption and bribery in the name of Government taxes. I dont know how much the government is losing in the name of bribes and these phoney taxes in the real estate sector.Dont beleive me? Try to buy a house in any city in India with full "White" money.
