Customs officer just talked me to pay him .

To begin with I am a staunch supporter of Anti corruption . But I am ashamed of myself that I gave myself to the canny customs officer.
I landed at the Hyd airport on Nov 6`th . The baggage detector detected 2 Gold biscuits weighing 60 gms . So his eyes Immediately glared at me and I was taken to the customs officer . He gently asked me to show what I got . When I showed him the Gold bars , he told me that for any Gold coins they will charge 75 RS/ Gm as Customs duty . First of all I never heard of It coz I thought we could take upto a KG of Gold ...but was`nt sure . He calculated the amount to 4200RS . I told him I just have 25 $ . I asked him If he could Issue me some kind of a challan and I would pay it the next day . He gently told me that there is no such provision . So I decided at that point I would pay the entire amount and take a receipt. So I called my driver If he had 3K but he just had 1500RS . So I went out and came back with 1500 RS . I thought he would give me a receipt for It but after taking 25$ + 1500 RS , he told me to just go . Heights of It was he did`nt even asked me for the customs form which is supposed to be 'Mandatory' collection from every passenger .
First of all I was cursing myself that I did`nt had the remaining amount coz I would have SURELY asked him a receipt. The other concern at that time was If I argue with him he would ask me to come back the next day for the Gold coins . So as a fool , I just did`nt know what to talk to him and I left HATING Myself for this . I could`nt believe that I paid a bribe ON ARRIVAL .
I am ashamed of myself and I pledge this won`t repeat next time for sure . This guy`s name is P. Sudh****ar .
