De bond your student loan

Reported on January 22, 2011 from Nashik , Maharashtra  ι Report #28770

I got a student loan from State bank of India to go to the US for studies in 2003. For this the SBI (at CBS) made us mortgage our house (which was more than twice the amount of the loan). SBI did a court deed (bond) and took all the property documents in original from us.
Once I finished my studies and got a job, I repaid back the entire amount in a year (2006). The amount was paid in full with all the interest payments. My parents did not receive back the property documents for almost 6 months in which they had to go to the bank 15-20 times. Finally they understood that they had to pay someone to get the documents back. As soon as they paid Rs 500 to one of the clerks, they received the original property documents back and a letter stating that the loan was cleared. But the twist was not done yet....
In 2008 they moved to a different house and thought of selling this one off. The trouble was, there was some record of a bond against this house which needed to be cleard before selling this house. So when I was in Nashik the next time, I had to sign on a De-Bond as it had both my parents and my sign on the original Bond.
We went to the court annex in Ganjamal to make a de-Bond document from the sub magistrate. Little did I know, They needed the State Bank Of India's Manager for this as well, and he would not come to the court until we paid him 500 more. Some how I decided to get this done and take care off. So we paid him 500 and he came to the Court Annex. there we had to pay another 500 for the clerks to get the work done, 300 to the door attendant, and 1200 to the Sub-megistrate.
Ofcourse this happened quickly due to the bribe and took only an entire day (for a 5 min process).
