For admission to professional colleges, domicile certificate was made mandatory. Applied for the same for my nephew who was born, raised, educated in Mumbai since 1988. However Rs.7000/- was required to be paid in order to secure the certificate. Those who do not pay or do not require it for admissions have to wait over a year to procure the same and that too after making dozens to visits. Common reply is that the file is missing!
Around **********-August every year there is rush for these certificates and the rates vary from court to court. Last year, the court in Borivli charges Rs.8000/- per domicile.
