We recently had our meter replaced in our rented house. There were two 'maistry' and 1 supervisor who came from the EB (employees of EB) to do the meter replacement and demanded Rs.300 (100 each) for the work. When demanded a receipt, I was refused saying you don't receipts for paying service charge to Maistry. Also when questioned, why do I have to pay service charge to a Maistry when they are sent by the EB, I was told that it is a norm (yeh niyam hai!) He stood infront of my house door until I paid him the amount he wanted.
