My Father passed away in the middle of last year. He was an employee of the Government of Karnataka at the time of his death. After a good 6 months and twenty thousand odd rupees, I still haven't managed to get all the money from his final settlement released. There is still one major component of his settlement which needs someone in the government to sign-off on some paperwork. The officer handling the case told me that if I was willing to "help", he could get things moving along and close this out. Being a working professional, I neither have the time, nor the energy to get this done in a right way and am left with no choice but to comply with their request for "help". If the officials are so corrupt that they do not show any consideration for one of their dead comrades, what choice does a common man like you and me have?
