I was traveling from Mumbai to Shegaon (both in Maharashtra) in my company provided car registered in Karnataka. I was stopped near Malkapur on national highway for document verification. I had all documents for car. Police insisted that I must have company authorization letter that car is given by company. I shared my ID card but police did not accept the same and insisted that my car I will have to leave there itself till Tuesday when case will come up for court hearing on Tuesday as Monday was holiday. To settle the issue they took Rs. 400 from me and i preferred to pay bribe as I was traveling with my wife and 2 yr old son and did not want inconvenience. When I was returning next day, I was stopped exactly at same spot by same group of cops. This time I used one my friends name who is RTO assistant commissioner and I could escape without bribe... so classmate who is now in RTO was another bribe paid...
I tried to find out, i need any such letter and every one who in RTO mumbai said such document is not required if I am carrying company photo ID card
