Almost all the students from the college applied for the passport and each had to pay Rs. 500 . A man in civil dress came for verification . We were hesitant to pay him because we knew that a police man does the verification . So we asked him and he produced his ID, that he was a Police Inspector in civil uniform . We tried to negotiate the amount and he said that it was not only his share there were two other people involved (one he mentioned was from Passport office). Later I learned from one of my net friends that they got there verification done free of charge at their hometowns in himanchal pradesh . This was the first time i paid bribe as a student and I received the passport 7 months later even after paying the bribe. I should have had that in max time of 2 months .
