I was travelling to a destination out of india carrying a gift in my hand baggage. Security officer noticed that I am travelling with a good gift and demanded to see what it is. After seeing it he asked me to step aside from the line and started questioning me. Indicated me that he cannot allow it to go in a flight but he can bend the rule if I offered some assistance. He was particularly looking for some foreign currency. What amused me the most was he asked me to follow him and his superior was watching all this but didn't say a word. Just for this simple reason I never carry cash in my wallet while travelling through Indian airports. I just transferred five 10 rupee notes to my jeans pocket from my coat. I knew as it is so busy we had to exchange this pretty quick. Of all places he took me to the washroom and there while peeing I gave him the bribe. Since it had more notes he was quite happy to just grab it and put it into his pocket withou looking as there were a lot of people. Althoug I gave him money I was still scared, what if he found out and came after me to the gate. These guys have power and just by saying to the other officials they can probably detain you and make you miss your flight. Didn't happen to me and I was relieved while boarding. Strange thing is because of this incident I was scared that if the connecting flight people at the european airport questioned me what am I supposed to do then. But to my surprise no one questioned and just let me take that stuff. These people and such positions give our country a bad name and this website is giving us a tool to voice our concerns.
