I had this police verification for a passport, it was at Keshwapur Police Station, Hubli. I had to go to the station 4 times, because he demanded for some new document every time, after everyhting was done, he asked for "FEE". I knew he would ask for a bribe, but he mentioned it as fee, so i ashed him, how much is the fee.. He said Rs 500. I thought for a second it was genuine fees, i thought i didn kno bout it. But the way he accepted it, shying if someone sees, i realised it was a bribe. I have this job offer, and need a passport before joining, so couldn do anything. I have a friend,who also got a passport along with me,and the same PS, so i asked him not to pay when he goes. he tried telling the police "y should i pay" tat policeman, straight away said, this is the standard fees here, i wont send your papers unless you pay. He had to pay too.. But he managed to bargain and pay 300 rs. One more thing i saw when i was sitting there waiting for my turn, a person from what i overheard was trying to get a license for a security agency, had some prob with his papers, he put a 1000 Rs note on the table and the policeman smiled, and said come tomorrow, your paper will be ready. this was my first visit to a police station and im terrified.. This is very wrong tat s happening, n happening everywhere. hav to be stopped.
the police who was accepting al this bribe was Mr H, Keshwapur Police Station.
