Dear All, I have also been a victim of paying bribe.It was way back in Dec 2004/2005.We belong to middle class family.We wanted to get registration of our house at Kanpur Development Authority.The clerk asked us to purchase Rs.40,000 stamp papers.My father did the same.After the stamp papers were purchased .My father took them to the clerk ,for his further action.But clerk refused to go forward and demanded Rs.10,000,which was very big amount for us.(At that time I was doing my college in other city.When this incident happened,at that time I was in home for my vacations.)The reason why he was threatening my father is that we purchased those stamp papers in the name of Kanpur Development Authority,and therefore can't be used elsewhere.Moreover the last date for registration was approaching.Moreover clerk threatened my father saying if he did not pay money,his all stamp papers will go in vain and moreover he will not move the file to other department .All these things made my father very upset,but he did not discuss anything with us.At night thinking all those things,he got mild heart attack,at midnight.My mother saw him sitting in pain near bathroom.It was really very hard for us to face that situation as nobody guided us.Everyone said that there is no other go than to pay them what they want.We paid Rs.10000 to them and thereafter they moved our file.My father is on medication.We can't do anything to those who accept bribe and play with others life and situation as we are tied up with our responsibilities.
