I went to Delhi Jal Board office in ********** Vihar. My Water meter had been stolen and I wanted a new meter to be installed. When I told the concerned official, he said please get a plumber , install a new meter after buying from market and submit the meter certificate which comes with the new meter. I did as he said and took the certificate which came with the new meter and went to the DJB office again. When I reached there the official I met was not there and on accosting other staff they finally told me to approach another official and hand over the certificate. This guy told me only authorised plumbers can install the meter. I was shocked. I had not been told of this fact. He said he will make entry of the new meter number in the register but you have to give chai-pani(bribe). I gave him Rs 20. He said the authorised plumber takes Rs 300 minimum. Finally he agreed in Rs 100.
