I bought a flat on Bannerghatta road, when I went with the builder for registration, he asked me to bring 14000 in cash. I asked him for what? His response was that if you want the flat to be registered you would need to pay this bribe. I was shocked, I negotiated the amount and brought it down to 12000. After registration the clerk assisting us came down to photocopy shop and I handed over the cash to him. I asked him casually "How much goes to Bade Shahab (Registrar)?" He said, "50%". Now imagine how many properties gets registered in a day and you can calculate the wealth of our babus in Registrar office.
