I had to pay bribe to the verification police officer for my passport application.

Reported on January 10, 2015 from Kolkata , West Bengal  ι Report #49676

On 15 Nov 2014, I was called upon to come at the police station for police verification for my passport application, despite the fact that the police officer should arrive at my doorstep. I don't know the full name of the officer but am sure his first name was DIB police officer Mr. Tapan, and I have his mobile number. After all the documents were verified and submitted to him, he suddenly asked me to pay 600 Rs, as for the reason of this demand he said the money isn't for him but for the higher officer, he assured me that otherwise my application won't get verified. As for prove he also showed me some applications pending for verification who refused to accept his demand. He was such an anti-secular biased officer, commented that my application will be passed because I belong to Hindu Religion, but if I were a Muslim, he would never let my application pass by hook or crook, and also showed me some examples.
We all know about the chances of a police asking for bribe in such processes, so I tried to collect any evidence I could if any such thing happens, I turned on the recoding on my phone and recorded the whole conversation.
I am yet to receive my passport.
