I paid bribe to get my DL

I applied for a car DL through a driving school. Driving school already charged me 3400 in total for driving and smart card. Even-tough I know some part of it will go as bribe, I paid it with a feeling as if I am not paying bribe directly. Also Driving school didn't mention bribe will be included till the end when they asked me to 400 extra apart from the 3000 paid initially for driving and getting DL. They argued that they have to pay inspector also and charged extra.
I went for DL at 9AM skipping my office. After all formalities we waited for inspector as he didn't come to office even at 11:30AM!
Many were waiting and after inspector arrived, we were taken to a nearby park where initially 2 wheeler tests were done and later called for car tests in batches of driving schools. I got my opportunity along with another candidate at around 1:30PM! I drove well as I took 2 months time for training myself after I got LLR. The candidate who came along with me did very bad. He stopped the car 4 to 5 times and even reverse he almost hit the drainage. He moved jerky but he was marked passed! I did quite well. Wore seat belt, no stoppages, proper use of indicators, slowly took over bumps, neat reverse... but not marked pass as he gave me comment through driving school instructor that my driving is not good!!
Later on I got to know from the jerky driver (who passed the test) that he paid bribe of 200 via the driving school person sitting next to inspector.
I got furious and asked the driving school what the **********they did with the money I paid. It seems to be a formality to give 200 to instructor before the test even after paying it through driving school. Driving school person promised me to talk to inspector and update me by evening.
I called him in the evening and was told that I was passed.
Somehow the whole episode is not proper. From me side as well as from the inspector side. I should not have paid bribe, but quite frustrated when told to come again after 8 days and didn't want to spend another 5 hours.
Inspectors don't take directly, they take it through driving schools. Its well organized than their office itself.
