I PAID A BRIBE - For My Police Clearance Certificate at Thane CID Office

Reported on May 25, 2011 from Thane , Maharashtra  ι Report #8468

Hi,
I had applied for a Portuguese passport as my mom has one and i was given an appointment in the Consulate office in Goa. As part of the requirement I was asked to provide a Police Clearance Certificate. So i applied for one on the 16th of May and handed over the necessary required proof along with the DD for Rs. 300 at the Thane office. I was very confidently told by the office that my form will be sent to my local police station in 3-4 days and that i could go there and complete the rest of the formalities.
I visited my police station after a week only to be told that forms are never sent to the police station, unless for some work an officer visits the Thane office, the papers are sent with then. My local police offices then advised me to go and collect the form by hand.
I visited the Thane police station again on the 23rd of May and I asked the same office for my form so i could take it to my local police station. TO my surprise, I was asked to pay Rs. 1500 if i wanted to collect the form by hand. After some bit of negotiation, the officer accepted to hand over the form for Rs. 1000. The officer then promised to give me the PCC in an hours time once i came back with the form duly stamped by my local police station.
Since I needed the PCC urgently, "I PAID A BRIBE" for Rs. 1000.
