I was asked to pay Rs. 1000 to get my Police verification passed.

Venue - Rajarhat Police Station.
Time - Around 5 PM
Reason - To show all documents supporting my Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Address Proof, Identity Proof to the Police officer to clear Police verification, in order to get a passport. Even though, I provided more documents than needed to, they said, as I was born in different part of the city, hence they would have to check, whether my name is in that area's Police station or not, which I said, my Grand father had registered my name already when I was born, they tried to scare me by saying, there are chances, my name may not be there, and I should pay certain amount of money (Rs.1000) for the inconvenience that may cause to them (police personnel of the station of the area of my birth) in order to find my name.
I had no choice, as I already provided all document.
There were many people there, to get their documents checked, before and after my turn, who also gave them bribes.
