I paid INR 3100 for obtaining a marriage certificate and another INR 1200 for getting it attested via MEA.
Some funny facts/rules/proceducres on how to obtain a marriage certificate.
1) You need to have a marriage invitation card. (what about people who go in for a simple marriage? or those cannot afford to get the cards printed or those who send electronic invitations).
2) You need to have marriage photographs as proofs (funny...again can everyone afford a photographer? rules should be reasonable)
3) Signatures of parents (what if someone has gone against the wishes of the parents and got married?)
These are just a few...I hope this will help you that govenment actually promotes corrucption by not streamlining the requirements.
