Lack of information

Reported on September 25, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30700

It was a Saturday morning and I was returning from a friend's place. I dropped my friend at a bus stop at CMH road in indiranagar. I said bye and pushed off. I stopped as the traffic signal was red and started moving as it turned green. The traffic in front of me had cleared (which must not b more than 5-6 vehicles) when the traffic signal turned red again. As there was no vehicle in front of me and i wasn't looking at the signal, I jumped it and then the siren started blowing. The traffic police constable and an inspector ahead stopped me. All my documents were in order so I didn't face any problems with that. Then he told me that i have to pay a fine of Rs 300. I said that I have just Rs 200 in my pocket. So he asked me to pay Rs 200 on the spot and the remainder at the traffic court. I agreed and paid Rs 200. He gave me a slip. I went home and checked that the slip was only for Rs 100 that I have to pay at the court. Later on I also realized that the fine for jumping traffic signals is only Rs 100. So, I paid a bribe unknowingly. This was a lesson for me. I decided to keep myself updated.
