Legal Charges 300; Bribe 800
I was transporting my Yamaha motor bike from Trivandrum.
The Charges were about 200 and then about 80 or so for the packing material. Then came the surprise, the coolies came and asked me for Rs.800 I was helpless, it was my new bike and if I didn't paid them, It was sure that I was going to have broken headlight, etc. or a hole in my gas tank. With some discussion with my friends I understood that this was a common practice.
At first, I even thought that I am supposed to pay the coolies as it is just their loading charges. But later I understood that, In railway Parcel service, they all have a salary / daily-wage.
