MG ROAD - LOOKING FOR PARKING PLACE CAME BACK IN ONE WAY - VERY CUNNING POLICE MAN

Reported on September 25, 2010 from Bangalore , Karnataka  ι Report #30723

Police personnal in disguise has cheated me and took a bribe of Rupees 100. I went to mysore bank at MG Road for Stamp paper. There was free parking infront along the road and I was looking for a parking lot for parking. I cound not found one so I waited for a while on my bike for some body to take there bike. After a while I found some body taking bike, so I made a U turn there to the parking place. There was absolutely no traffic on the road when I made the U-turn. When I reached the empty parking slot, traffic police who was hiding for that time in a shop came out. Definitely he saw me all the time waiting for the parking slot. He told it is one-way and I need to pay fine of Rs 200. I told it should be only Rs 100, he said this is a danger zone and breaking the rules fine is Rs 500. I told him I am looking for a parking slot and tried to convince him that I did not break the rules. He did not listen and got to pay the bribe. This police person is not even authorized to collect the fine as he do not have any receipt book nor any black-berry, all he was doing is he is threatening to send me to court by righting my bike number on his note pad. After I had paid Rs 100, he had shown his book where he had cut-off my number as a proof. While waiting in the queue infront of the bank for stamp paper, I had seen this guy doing the same thing, hiding and waiting for prey to come back looking for parking slot. This is too low interms of traffice police. Dear Bidri/Lokayukta please read this and give an Ad in paper saying that there is no need to pay any fine/bribe to police personnel who are not authorized to collect the fines.
