Mumbai police target out of state vehicles

Driving around Mumbai our vehicle was stopped twice on Christmas Day. Being a tourist we had a driver taking us around city. The Mumbai police were definitely enjoying the Christmas spirit as they targeted vehicles that were out of state (ours was from Gujarat). First bribe was 300 Rupees for crossing a ********** traffic signal. Hours later we were stopped as Front passenger did not have his seat belt on. We paid 500 Rupees for that one. While the officer generously accepted our Christmas gift I pointed to the dozen or so cars whom had no seat belts. Apparently he did not find this amusing so I got in my car and let the driver conclude the transaction.
