While getting her police verification for the passport through , my mother had to pay bribe to the concerned officer. She paid Rs. 200 , but the officer wanted more. My mother refused to pay and for the time being the officer seemed to be semi-satisfied, but , at the back he made a deliberate mistake in the verification report , that delayed the passport for 2 more months. But, kudos to the passport department that they acted well when my mother personally met them and explained everything and she got her passport eventually.
