Dear All,
I`m basically from Tamilnadu and settled in Delhi for the past 6 yrs. Yesterday ie. 26-May-2013 i`ve drove to agra with my cousin & 2 school friends (whom i'm meeting them after 15 long years) and we guys planned for one day trip to agra. The road to Agra "the yamuna express way" is really amazing. The best road one can find in India. After a great ride to agra we reached Taj Mahal and had good time out there. On our way back to Delhi we had a lunch in a well known hotel "Moti Mahal delux" at agra. Post lunch we were on way back to Delhi thats where the event happened (At the traffic signal near Transport Nagar). We were stopped by a traffic cop (After seeing its a Delhi Registration Number). He asked me to show me the documents. First he asked me the driving license. I provided that. Then he asked for the Registration Certificate (RC). I`ve provided that. Then he demanded Insurance copy. Even that was provided. After reviewing all the documents he asked me for a Pollution certificate. I`ve provided that as well to his satisfaction. What ever the document he asked i`ve provided everything and made him to satisfy. But then comes the trap. The same traffic cop asked me who is the owner of the car despite providing my Driving license & RC Copy. Then i said i`m the owner of the car. Then he quizzed me and asked who are the passengers in the car. We were 4 members. A cousin of mine & two friends i told. To my shock he demanded me a permit for driving the car. I was shocked to hear the word "permit" for a own board car from a traffic cop. He said that i cannot accompany my friends in my car as per the Motors vehicles Act. That was a crazy statement. According to him "A person can accompany blood relations only as its a personal car". This is what the traffic cop said. I was speachless. I demanded him to show the concerned part of the Motors vehicles Act which he refused and demanded Rs. 5000 as a penalty. With all our efforts went in vain he was about to seize the car for no reason. Then i finally end up paying Rs. 500 to the cop and left the place. Thats craziest thing ever happned to me in my life.
