I had applied for a new connection to my new house under consturction. It required a no pole to be errected as the main pole was more than the requried distance for the wire to be hanging. This pole has to be provided free of cost, but they took 1000Rs for the pole and 3500 for actually giving the new connection permission and sanctioning the pole. Finally we had to arrange transport for the pole to the site and labour for errecting the same which costed us about Rs. 1400 more after all the birbing. Should not forget that the regular charges for new connection and meter was charged seperately and appropriate bills were given to us.
