Paid 5000 to get my led through customs at delhi airport
I purchased a 55 inch led TV from Dubai and was travelling to India . I knew I had to pay 36 percent customs and was prepared for it. I had purchased my TV for aed 3500 ie approximately 60000 inr . At the airport I went through the red channel to declare customs and furnished the bill of the TV. He looked at it and charged me 36000 inr saying that the TV is valued at 100000 inr and that they don't regard the bill. Shocked I was even prepared to pay that amount when he suddenly asked me keep 5000 rupees in my passport and pass it to him. He said if I bribed him then he would value the custom charge as 15000, so instead of paying 36000 I would end up paying only 20000 rupees. He asked me to do it secretly as the CCTV were watching. I did that, paid him 5000, and paid 15000 as the customs.
