Paid a bribe to traffic police

Name of officer - not known because traffic police officer never wear their name badge and if you will ask them to wear it , they take it on their ego.
Place - New Delhi , it is crossing when going to Noida from Delhi on Airport road
Time - Around 8 PM
I was driving and in between on the crossing then suddenly it showed RED light. And then traffic police officer stopped my car that too without any sense , he just came in front of my car. If I would have failed in applying brakes he could have died.
He told me that I have violated traffic signal and it would cost 1500 INR as challan. Then he asked whether I will go with cash payment or court. Then I said that I will go for cash challan then he threatened me that my driving license will be suspended for 3 months. Then I requested him for bribe because I did not want my license to be suspended. Then he agreed on settlement of INR 1000.
But I felt very bad that he charged a big amount for a small offense and that too happened , I did not violate rule but light became RED on the way while crossing road.
So, I would like that challan rates ust be displayed in cities rather keeping holarding of builders or politicians. So that these traffic police walas should get a lesson.
