I was going for a wedding and it was night 11:30pm. Since traffic was less, I checked that no traffic was coming from the other end and jumped lights. Immediately I saw two havaldars asking me to stop. I stopped and was ready to pay the challan. Hawaldar asked about my profession and the place I belong. I told him would collect my challan from traffic police office in sector 29. Hawaldar told if I pay there then they would put few extra charges and would have to pay 400-500rs to get my License back. He asked me for 200 rs. Just to save myself from hassles I paid bribe. I know it was wrong but want to know what can I do if the hawaldar says that he can put few extra charges?
