Paid bribe for police verification

I have to pay bribe of rupees 250 to policeman to get a statement signed stating that i have no criminal record. I have joined an industry for summer training and it asked me get police verified giving its format. To get it signed i have to pay a bribe. Statement was just formality that institute wants all the students have no bad record and hence they ask for police verification giving a format which states as "
TO WHOMSOEVER IT MAY CONCERN
MR. X has no criminal record and has a good moral conduct."
To get it just signed they asked us to pay him him 300 but due to lack of money with he took 250.
