Paid to clear personal used household items and electronics when returning from abroad

Although a person returning to the country does not have to pay customs duty on used household goods and electronics, the customs evaluated duty at Rs. 3500, and I had to pay an extra Rs. 6,500 (total Rs. 10 000) to get my stuff released.
