Paid for waiver of customs duty on clearance of LCDs

The duty was calculated at Rs. 23000/-. Some of my colleagues were let off since they put the officer on phone with some "SPECIAL PERSON". I ended up paying Rs. 8000/- and thus, saved Rs. 15000/-. On asking the Officer as to why he let off other people in identical situation in front of our eyes, his appalling remark was: "There are many offenders at a traffic signal and all of them cannot be caught."
