Passport Application Verification

Reported on October 23, 2010 from Navi Mumbai , Maharashtra  ι Report #30206

I am from Andhra Pradesh and I work in Mumbai. I have applied for a passport with Thane RPO in July 2006 and my Police Verification was sent to Airoli PS which is local to my residense. I was asked to come to the PS instead of the Verification personel come and see my residense. When I go there, the verification authority refused to talk to me as I don't own a house/business there so he wanted me to bring a local wala. I managed to get hold of a local Passport broker and with his help I was able to get the verification done by paying a bribe of 500 Rs to the Police and the broker charged me 1000. The pity story is, even after paying 1500 to broker and Police, they wrote a negative report on me stating that I did not mentioned about my past residense in Chembur which was 2 years ago. As per the Passport rules, you need to mention all the addresses where you resided in the past one year. Because of this, I had to pay 5000 rupees as a penalty at RPO.

Moral of the story is, even if you pay bribe, there is no guarantee that your work is done.
