I have applied passport for my sister (filenum:i can provide if needed) and a police came to my home for physical verification and he told that he cannot fill the verification forms until
we pay 1000 rupees and he was so rude and saying we cannot get passport without his approval. We submitted passport application online
and my sister went to PSK ameerpet (to reach there she woke up at 5 in the morning, took bus for 30 minutes, train 5 hours and a bus 1 hour) and
waited there for 4 hours to submit documents and proof of address(aadhar) and date of birth proof.
And we already paied 1500 rupees for processing, nowhere in the govt website mentioned that we again need to pay 1000 rupees as bribe to police for police verification. The police didn't even tell his name, but you can get it from khammam, andhra pradesh SP office who went for my sisters passport police verification. We refused to pay, he finally left my home without filling verification documents, we don't know what will happen to the passport approval.
Indian Passport is the most important document which a citizen can have to show his citizenship, to get that we need to bribe the police, how shame it is. If we pay good amount to police, anybody can get indian passport, It is very shameful to police department and govt of andhra pradesh/india.

Surprisingly, i received response from Ministry of external Affairs, stating as below
