Personal Information of Tenant/Temporary Rsident

I am posting here because i came to know about this site very recently via TOI.

I am not really sure if we need to pay any amount to the local police station for submitting Personal Information as Tenant. Its no where declared.

After submitting all relevant documents the police demanded Rs 200/- for which there is not receipt given. So what happens to this money? 1000's of people pay this amount and worst is all the society/landlords are making this mandatory.

This needs to be stopped by taking appropriate actions , People need to pay Rs 200/- only if this is supported by proper procedure and receipt.
