As tourists we were driving from Maharastra to Goa. Just over the border into Goa we were flagged down by the police who told us to get out the car. We took off our seatbelts and got out. They asked for all our documents so we showed the passports, driving licences and car rental papers. They then tried to demand 2000 rupees to give us the papers back. At first we didn't know what was going on but when we realised we tried to refuse. They thought we were bargaining and kept lowering the price. Eventually we gave in and gave them just 100 rupees.
