I had applied for passport recently and it was more than 1 and a half months that there was no intimation.. Whn I went to the Passport office, I was first directed to the concerned inspection formatitity which was done immediately.
Then I was informed that forget it now as it will take 2 more months... i had to cook up a story of my daughter in laws delivery and request for the urgency.. they kept asking me to visit... Then informed that my file is misplaced and i need to re submit all the concerned documents again. I could sense some thing fishy.. i directly asked for how much i need to pay to get the same. after this they found the file also immediately and told that they will prepare the passport and give also immeidately, which apparently happened. I was surprised that on offering a bribe how come all the processes started functioning. Though I paid a bribe, but caught in these situations we cannot take a Gandhian stand.
