My container shipment containing my household goods arrived from the US to Bangalore. The local agency who provide assistance in completing the paperwork intoduced me to the inspectors at CCI in Whitefield. The inspectors were mostly Tamilians. My inspector was bold enough to ask me to pay 25,000 for reducing the duty. I finally ended up paying 20,000 for my container release and I don't know ho much of it was the actual duty and how much was bribe. Unfair Indian Customs Regualations are also to be blamed for high levels of corruption in the Excise department.
