Ruined my business trip
- Passport
- Passport Delivery
- Paid INR 5,000
I had applied for a passport and within a month on the website, the status of the passport showed: passport Dispatched.
However for 7 months I did not get my passport.
I had to come all the way from Hyderabad to Lucknow because in about 2 weeks time, the first international trip of my first job was lined up.
I lined up in front of the top official's office for 4 days and never got to see him as the chaperon said he was having lunch or was out of the city. After talking to other people in the line and I came to know that some of them hadn't received their passports for upto 2 years.
Then I finally gave a 1000Rs to him to get inside to meet the official. he immediately took me in through some back door.
The official asked me the problem and on telling him that the website was showing "passport Dispatched" status for 7 months. He said, then wait for it, it will come. We can;t do anything. It has been dispatched. Go meet the courier guy. I offered to "do" whatever he wanted me to do. he asked me to give Rs5000 to another guy standing in the room. I gave it. He asked the other man to go find the passport and he brought it out in less than 10 minutes.
Then I called the courier guy and said, he will make sure your passport reaches home now. I produced my identity card and said I would like to take it with me but he said no, according to the process the courier guy will have it sent. Then they waited for my reaction in silence. I paid Rs.2000 to the courier guy also. And even then I did not receive my passport in time to be able to make the trip. The guy who was the second option went and I missed that very crucial opportunity which I never got again.
He was the second highest official in the Lucknow passport office in the year 2007.
I will never forgive those bastards. They're literally ruining people's lives. Not only taking bribes but making people beg to pay them. people have to pay coz their lives are literally in these rascals' hands. I would've had a different career if I'd been able to go on that trip.
