This is a rather simple and relatively trivial case of bribing as the sums involved are not huge at all, but its the reason for the bribe that seems absolutely ridiculous. I had applied for 4 passports (me, wife and 2 kids) which i was about to receive within a week or two; MIND YOU that i had applied for them through an agent as well for convenience sake, he charged rs.250 per passport and i didnt have to do anything at all; so anyways the mailman came with the passports, i signed the courier, and then the mailman just stood there looking at me with a smile, so i automatically handed him a 100 note, but then he smiled more and said that the passport only comes once a year; i inquired how much did he desire then? he shamelessly replied 100 per passport, i bargained him down to 300 total for 4 passports, he took it and ran off. what a great concept!! paying money to get something that is my right as a citizen...Incredible *******
