Sub-Registrar Office Bribe
- Stamps and Registration
- Registration of Property
- Paid INR 29,000
Text added I had anticipated this the moment we thought of purchasing an apartment. The builder marked a category called "Property Assessment & Facility Fee" worth rupees 24000 in its payment sheet. When asked about the details - they further revealed (in person, and not in writing) - that this money has to be paid in cash on the registration day to the sub-registrar office Begur.
That was not all my bank wanted a written affidavit of our loan agreement details registered. Even for that document, I had to pay an additional bribe of rupees 5000 at the Begur office. And I was told - being a Non-Kannadiga, I was lucky to have a builder's representative who could "deal" with all these people in the Sub-Registrar office, and the forms which were all in Kannada.
Rather unlucky - for paying a bribe worth 29000 bucks!
