Though Passport office is way much better now than what it used to be few years back, Tatkal queue is really pathetic!!
PSK (Passport ********** kendra) issues around 50-100 tokens for tatkal. That means it allows only 50-100 people (only) with out online appointments. If a person needs a (fresh/re-newal) passport urgently, then they have to be in queue as the online appointments normally would be available only after 30-45 days.
The real pain is, people should stand in the queue the previous night or very early in the morning to be one of those 50-100 lucky people. So, few agents have contacts in PSK and they get people in with out being in the queue and they charge around 1500-3000 rupees.
I hope that there would be an effective solution to this soon.
People really do not mind if they need to pay a premium amount to the PSK instead of an agent to avoid the queue.
This money is just to avoid the queue and thankfully not to get a passport illegally without any right documents!!
