Indian Tax Law is one of the most complex in the globe. It gives unrestricted ********** to harass the tax payer. The range superintendent(Range XV, Division - III) proposed to impose a non existent penalty of Rs. 20 Lakh, and demanded bribe of Rs. 2 Lakh. To avoid the legal hassel, I negotiated and finaly had to cough up Rs. 25000.
