I am a engineering student from kottayam. Some time back our family had to have the Police Clearence for issue of Passport.
I have heard from my father of a common practice followed to pay a sum of money to the coming officer, but was totally opposed to the idea eventhough my father handed Rs. 300 to me to pay him as soon as he comes in.
This officer guy came up by noon and introduced himself. Other than asking much about us, he started a conversation dealing with moral values, gandhian ideas, the responsibilities of students to society and so on..
I began wondering what his response would be when i hand him this dirty money according to him, and called dad explaining the situation and suggested it would be better if we keep off from paying, but he told me it is just "demo" and they are here for just money..The officer showed no signs of getting out and kept on talking everything under the sun, finally i took a bold decision and handed over the money to him..
I saw his eyes filled with happines and all thanking emotions. He said everthing seems allright with our backgrounds and the passport will be arriving shortly...
that was an eye opened for me seeing the true face of ugly bribe world!!!!
