- Police
- Traffic Violations
- Paid INR 500
Place - HSR 27th Main (in front of SBI). Date - 28th Feb 2018. Time - 6:35 PM
As I was driving in my 4 wheeler, from my home in Sommasunderpalya to bring my kids back from daycare (I have 3 yr old twins), my car was stopped (hand signal) by this Police and was startled as I was very confident of not violating any traffic rule (wearing seat belt/driving slowly/no traffic signal in this area/no one way etc). But being a responsible and dutiful citizen, I stopped and inquired about the offence. I was told that my fault was that I was wearing a Bluetooth headset and the police felt that I was taking a call. I argued that he was not right to which he noted my car no and then asked if I had a driving license. So I showed him the license and immediately he kept it to himself and said I have to pay a fine of Rs 500. I told him that I'll escalate this matter as he was wrongly charging me but he threatened that he'd put a case of riot and misbehaving with Police Officer if I didn't pay. I was seated in the car and he was interacting through the other window. In between traffic accumulated plus I was getting late. So I paid the amount and asked him to issue a receipt. He took the money and intercepted another vehicle. I told him to give back my license and receipt to which he said he'll take some time to prepare same so I can collect same while driving back. I took his words and hurriedly picked my kids and came back and then went upto the officer. He tried ignoring me but when I intercepted after a long wait he handed the license back but didnt provide the receipt. He was very rude and aggressive this time. I have emailed this same mail to higher authorities of traffic police but no action has been taken yet.
